Welcome a new chef to Culinary Apple in July: Firehouse chef Dennis Stanley. It's the first time Dennis has offered a class with us, but he's been cooking for a crowd for quite some time. He's spent most of his life in the Puget Sound area, and credits his grandmothers for instilling in him a love of food and cooking. He has catered for both small and large groups and even cooked for the mayor of Seattle. He has mastered cooking for the most discerning of palates...firemen, who want to eat for $5 or less, and expect the meal to be the best they've ever eaten. They do provide a captive audience, and will eat whatever is put in front of them, so Dennis has had ample opportunity to experiment.
The signature dishes at the firehouse are chipotle fire wings, fire pasta, chimichurri and the "stomelette" (we'll have to ask him about this the night of the class...). Other favorites range from szechuan chicken to braised lamb shanks, and from biscuits and gravy to chicken pot pie in a pumpkin. (We may need to have him back to try some of these!)
Dennis is looking forward to sharing his favorite homestyle cooking, and we are looking forward to sampling it! Join us for this creative menu that is sure to be full of flavor!
